How Does It Look?
In this letter to the church in Thessalonika, Paul gave one of the best nuggets of advice that could be given to a believer….ABSTAIN FROM ALL APPEARANCE OF EVIL! I love it. As I have looked over my life I have found so many instances when I fell into the abyss of sin because I went “too far”. When I felt that something may be wrong or I was thinking that I could handle something that seemed challenging to my stability and righteousness, it served to put me in a hole with God. If I had stepped back, if I had turned from the possibility or if I had even just stopped moving forward into the temptation, I would have not failed in the end. As Paul teaches in this scripture, we need to turn at the point the situation, person or feeling first LOOKS LIKE sin! Hallelujah!
If it looks like a “duck”, quacks like a “duck” and walks like a “duck”, then you probably have a DUCK!
Sin is the same way. We must stop trying to have sin serve our selves when it actually only serves itself! Don’t take the chance! ABSTAIN FROM THE APPEARANCE OF EVIL! If it looks like EVIL or SIN then leave it alone until God can bless your spiritual eye to see what looks like God!!!!
