Man and Woman
Singular and plural are syntax terms in the English language that denote whether the word is reflective of one thing or more than one things. It all seems straightforward til you get to this scripture in the creation of mankind. There is an interesting juxtaposition created between Man and Woman and male and female. The scripture points to the deduction that initially God created man who was actually male AND female in one being…and named THEIR name Adam. As hermaphroditic as it may seem, it makes sense. Adam had both male and female “in him” so when God wanted to created Adam’s mate all God had to do was to take a portion of the female that was in Adam and make an independent Woman. Man and Woman can become one through the ordinance of marriage logically because they were one in the beginning as the male and female in Adam.
A man can never be the complete creation that he was intended to be unless he finds his “Eve”.
We also know that a man has both male and female in him still which causes a struggling imbalance. As God said at creation, “It is not good for man to be alone”..especially now that man is incomplete without woman. Before Eve, Adam was not incomplete. He was just dissatisfied 🙂
