And He Opened His Mouth
When I was growing up, I would hang out around my granddaddy all the time. He was an iconic figure in my life. I revered him so much that when his mouth would open I anticipated something that I needed to hear or know. I respected him so much that any time that he would speak I would hang on his every word. In this scripture I related to Matthew in his account of the Master’s sermon on the Mount. Here Matthew said, “And he opened his mouth”. Matthew must have been just as attentive to Jesus as I was to my granddaddy. Matthew must have known and believed that whatever Jesus said was priceless and not to be missed! Then Matthew recorded that “He taught them”. At this moment, Matthew noted that the were being taught. Passages like these truly reflect the RELATIONSHIP that Matthew had with his Master. As I was with my granddaddy, so was Matthew with his Master. Now as an adult I strive to have that relationship with Jesus in my daily walk.
Whenever God “opens His Mouth”, I want to stop.
Whatever God has to “say”, I want to receive. Whatever God wants to “do”, I want to be used and employed as His servant to do His Will, by His Word, and in His Way!!!
