Poor In Spirit
The most troubling position to be in is when you are poor in spirit. I make that assertion because when you are poor in spirit you are limited in your spiritual resources, and, when you are limited in your spiritual resources, you feel limited overall. Your power is limited. The confidence that “all power is in your prayer” is just not there. Your clarity is limited. Yes, we do trust. Yes, we do believe. Yes, we do have faith. However, we are human and need some tangible confidence that we are gonna be alright. Otherwise, we feel anxiety, angst and stress. Your vision is limited.
That old saying that “I just can’t see it!” keeps us in bondage.
The Bible tells us that it is not about those things that appear but instead about what we cannot see! So true, but I want to see where I am going!!! This seems like a weak, ineffective believer. But, God says in this beatitude that “theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven”. It may be like hell on earth but some spirit is better than no spirit at all. The Kingdom of Heaven is your reward.
