His Name Is Jesus!
Don’t get it twisted! Jesus, the Christ, is the head of the church! What a strong statement made in a strong way….BUT IT IS NEEDED! The universal church is an organism that lives through and for God. The institutional church has the same intention but does not yield the same result. The universal church is a God-ordained and God-established body. The institutional church is a God-guided and people-seasoned organization. So, since the institutional church is a manifestation of the universal church, we can get them mixed up a lot of times. Sometimes the universal church and the institutional church are not in sync…actually a lot of times. There are times when the institution may do something that the universal church would not do. There are times when the universal church will value something that the institution has overlooked. Since the Universal church is supposed to be the TRUTH that we live and worship within the institutional church, we need something to keep us grounded…hence this scripture. It is about God and not about man. It is about what God wants and NOT about what we desire or are comfortable with!
