The Last Supper
Up to the last minute, Jesus was on the job. It was the same night that He was to be betrayed, and Jesus was ministering to the disciples.
The covenant of communion or the Lord’s Supper is a key ordinance with God!
God wants to know that we honor who and how He is. We need to stay in a posture of worship and glorification through our remembering the sacrifice that God made through His Son, Jesus, the Christ. Let’s look at what Jesus did with His disciples…. Jesus brought them together to break bread at the brink of His greatest suffering.
Wow! His closest friends were the ones that He reached out to at His most critical time.
The crew of 12 were not the best friends that someone could ask for, but they are His friends…and Jesus gave them the honor and experience of being the last ones to break bread with the Son of God. Do I have a group of folks whom I can consider, Friend, enough to share at such a critical time in my life? Who are the ones whom I want to be there for me and WILL? We have to be honest with ourselves…as Jesus was…regardless of the individuals!
