All By My Self
My grandmama used to tell people when she was done fussing with them, “I am gonna do to you what the devil won’t do…LEAVE YOU ALONE!” What she meant was that she was gonna give the worst punishment that she could give which is to leave you alone. That is the same way that God is.
The worst punishment that God would give us at this point in His creation is to leave us alone.
The academic arena has taken the liberty to even define “Hell” as “the state of being without God” or “the absence of God”. Without God there is no life. Without life there is death. We need God! Our scripture gives God’s reaction to our being hardheaded and disobedient. God reacts just like my grandmama by leaving us alone.
However the tough component is that He leaves us alone to be with OURSELVES.
We are left with our uncleanness. We are left with our shortcomings. We are left with our depression. We are left with our wrongdoings. We are left with our conscience. And, when this happens, our bodies suffer…our spirits suffer…our minds suffer!!
