It’s in a SOUND!
I have always been amazed at how much of our faith comes from a SOUND. I was saved from what I HEARD and not from what I read. I was turned around by something that I HEARD. I was lifted by a still small VOICE. I was comforted by the SOUND of a hymn. I was corrected by the SHOUT of my mother and grandmother. I have always longed to HEAR the voice of my father telling me that “It’s gonna be alright”! The ordinance of Divine creation began with the sound, “Let there be Light”.
The church worship experience is couched in a SOUND.
The resounding sound of the minister from the pulpit. The sing-song reverberation of the words of God being preached by the preacher. The mantraic sounds of the old hymn. The rhythmic beat of the choir or praise team music. The response of the congregation to the movement of God in His House.
I feel that I am in the Presence of God by what I HEAR and not what I SEE.
I can hear the SOUND that my soul needs to be comforted. I can hear the WORDS that my mind need to hear to gain understanding. I can hear the SOUND the takes my mind back to the place where I was first saved. I can hear the rhythm that rocks my heart to a rest!
