Sunday Christians
There have always been debates as to the origin and validity of Sunday being the day that Christians come together to workship God. The Jewish day of worship or Sabbath is Saturday, and Christianity is supposed to be based on Judaism…but…no saturday curch unless you are a Seventh Day Adventist. Although the Jews worshipped God on Saturday, the Christian tradition was based on when the Jews “came together to break bread”.
Does it really matter?
God asked for 1 day to be kept holy. It doesn’t matter which. It would actually be best that all days be kept Holy for God’s sake but we know that won’t happen. But maybe that is not the reason why we worship on Sunday. Maybe the reason is that Sunday was the first day that Gentiles, like us, regularly came together to hear the word of God preached. Worship God every day, but come to HEAR the Word preached once a week. Paul instituted Sunday as the day that Gentiles come together to worship with the preached Word as the focus. Saturday keeps the Jewish Sabbath clear. Sunday is the day for us Gentiles. However, when it all comes down to it, it does not matter as long as God gets all the glory, all the honor and all the praise!!!
