How Folk ARE!
We may try to act and talk tough at times, but Satan was right when he said, “Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life”.
Self-preservation was the first and most preeminent ordinance given to mankind.
It is only natural for an individual to save themselves. It is as accepted as the courts accept “self-defense” as a viable path to absolve one from the guilt or penalty. However, it is also natural to allow self-preservation to go too far! We also can naturally allow the hurt of someone else to happed in the name of saving self. Using another person to shield oneself from a bullet, giving up information of someone else to protect your own reputation and illegally hurting another in order towin a competition are all examples of this very natural unction. So that leaves us as God’s creations to rise above our natural inclinations. Through Christ we can deny our selves and serve our fellow man or woman an not hurt. Then there is one other way that we satisfy Satan’s assessment. We will deny or turn against or ignore God in the name of saving our own lives, perspectives, understandings or expectations. Skin for Skin we will give up God for our own fallible lives. 🙁
