Text:
Job 19:25-27:
25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
Theme:
I Ain’t Worried
Introduction:
- The Book of Job is the first book of poetry.
- Author unknown
- Believed to be the oldest book of the Bible in that it was written before all of the others.
- Job deals with Divine Doctrine…Psalms with Divine Devotion…Proverbs with Divine Practicality.
- Job’s story is a familiar one:
- Job was noted as a “perfect and upright man”
- Job was tried by Satan as a test to see if he would curse God.
- Job lost everything and was left afflicted with boils on his skin.
- Job endured the words of his friends who visited him
- Job was delivered to an affluent state after submitting to the Will of God in his life.
- Our text is a famous passage in reference to Job à Job’s shout in the midst of his trouble
- Job’s statement of declaration that truly “sticks out” above the rest of the book.
- Job proclaimed his deliverance while in the midst of his turmoil and strife.
- Can we all do as Job?
- Can we say in spite of our circumstances, I AIN’T WORRIED!!
Body:
- Why do we worry?
- Man worries because he/she has not been obedient to the Word, Will and Way of God!
- Psalms 94:11, “The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.”
- Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
- Man worries because he/she has not been obedient to the Word, Will and Way of God!
- Why does Job say that He does not worry?
- “my redeemer liveth”
- Job spoke boldly of a Redeemer that He had not experienced through prophets or personal experience!
- John 11:25, “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:”
- Job spoke boldly of a Redeemer that He had not experienced through prophets or personal experience!
- “he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth”
- God’s Word will stand through the end of time!
- (Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:3, Luke 21:33), “Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.”
- God’s Word will stand through the end of time!
- “though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God”
- “Skin worms” destroy this body, but we have another “body” that will see God
- What are “Skin Worms”?
- Enemies, Sin
- Another body à 2 Corinthians 5:1, “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”
- Seeing God à Matthew 5:8, “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”
- Job could say this because the Bible says that he was a “just and upright man”. WHAT ABOUT US?
- What are “Skin Worms”?
- “Skin worms” destroy this body, but we have another “body” that will see God
- “mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me”
- Job was saying in essence, “Do what you want to do to me!! I will make it to Paradise in spite of what you do to this flesh!!”
- Where is confidence of the believer in what God has already done?
- Isaiah 40:31, “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
- We must “Hang on in there!!”
- Job was saying in essence, “Do what you want to do to me!! I will make it to Paradise in spite of what you do to this flesh!!”
- “my redeemer liveth”
Conclusion:
- Why shouldn’t we worry?
- Philippians 4:6, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
- 1Peter 5:7, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
- To not worry, we must note the first thing that Job said à “For I know”
- When all other plans have failed
- When all of our friends have turned against us
- When the sunny days have all fallen to rain
- When our joy has retreated to an insatiable depression
- We must GO WITH WHAT WE KNOW!
- Jethro told Moses in Exodus 18:11 after hearing that God had delivered them from Egypt, “Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods”
- Naaman told Elisha after being miraculously cured of leprosy in 2Kings 5:15, “now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel:”
- The man with an unclean spirit in Mark 1:24 said “I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God”
- Another evil spirit told Paul’s followers in Acts 19:15, “And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?”
- Paul said in Romans 7:18, “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing”
- Paul went with what he knew in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
- As the old folks used to say, “Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there!”
- Hebrews 4:16, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
- We must GO WITH WHAT WE KNOW!
- We need not be worried when WE KNOW what Job knew!!
- I AIN’T WORRIED about my ENEMIES because I KNOW that MY REDEEMER LIVETH!
- I AIN’T WORRIED about my PROBLEMS because I KNOW that MY REDEEMER LIVETH!
- I AIN’T WORRIED about my BILLS because I KNOW that MY REDEEMER LIVETH!
- I AIN’T WORRIED about my WEAKNESSES because I KNOW that MY REDEEMER LIVETH!
- I don’t think, wonder, or suppose…I KNOW!
Now, I thank God that I AIN’T WORRIED!!!
