Theme:
Don’t Be Scared
Introduction:
- The Song of Solomon has been questioned as to whether Solomon actually wrote it, but studies continually point to Solomon’s pen as the origin.
- It is an allegorical poem setting forth the mutual love of Christ and the Church, under the emblem of the bridegroom and the bride.
- The Song of Solomon is often avoided or overlooked by the traditional church because it touches on a sensitive subject within our “good Baptist” tradition – INTIMACY è Manifested in our relationships
- Spiritual Relationships (with God)
- Emotional Relationships (with God and/or people)
- Physical Relationships (with people)
- The struggle is HOW DO WE BRING TOGETHER THE THREE TO BE CONSISTENT THROUGHOUT ALL RELATIONSHIPS FROM GOD TO MAN?
- Song of Solomon teaches us just that through its example and expression.
- Therefore, DON’T BE SCARED to explore and expose ourselves through studying this book.
- Our other text confirms this theme when it says… “There is no fear in love”
- The First Epistle of John is the fourth of the general epistles and was written by the Apostle John in his later years.
- The purpose of the epistle is to declare the Word of Life to those to whom he writes, in order that they might be united in fellowship with the Father and his Son Jesus Christ.
- He shows that the means of union with God are,
- By Christ, through his atoning work and his advocacy
- By man, through our holiness, obedience, purity, faith, and love
- Through our text we are empowered through God’s LOVE and protected from Satan’s crippling FEAR!
- The First Epistle of John is the fourth of the general epistles and was written by the Apostle John in his later years.
- Our other text confirms this theme when it says… “There is no fear in love”
