Me Me Me
Two words in this scripture are tough to digest every time that I read it. The first is VANITY. It is tough because I get this mixed up with CONFIDENCE and ASSURANCE. Let’s look at the simple statement… “I know the information.” Confidence would emphasize it as ” I know the INFORMATION”. Assurance would emphasize it as “I KNOW the information”. But then VANITY would emphasize it as “I know the information!” As defined, VANITY is having TOO MUCH trust and confidence in your own resources or abilities. It is a genuine challenge to have confidence and assurance BUT not have too much. Usually you don’t realize that it is too much until it is too late. Then, secondly, the other word that I struggle with is ALL. The scripture is telling us that everything is vanity. WOW!
So, everything that I think about, everything that I have, everything that I do…is VANITY.
An individual can’t help but to feel a bit of futility here. However, know that it is not about what WE do. It is all about what God does THROUGH us!!! It is not about what WE say. It is all about what God says THROUGH us. It is not about where WE go. It is all about where God LEADS us!!! It is not about US.
