Other People’s Property (OPP)
I used to think that this was another one of those easy commandments that I could and would never break. However, when I became a man, I learned that it poses just as much of a struggle as others. The context of this commandment is having a husband or wife and the existence of another man or woman with whom you want to have relations or relationship. With this as the context one can see that it is all about one of two things…either who you have or who you want. When these two entities become two different people then “adultery” is an impending issue! You don’t have to have sexual relations. You can just touch. You don’t have to touch. You can just long for. You don’t have to long for. You can just dream about. You don’t have to dream about. You can just relish a thought.
ALL OF THESE ARE ADULTERY! Wow! Once again with these commandments I am in over my head!
I cannot perfected abide by this commandment as long as I am wrapped in this sin-ridden flesh. So I need God. I need Him to forgive, cleans, reestablish, regenerate and balance. This is the only way that I can be in relationship with God…through Christ and the redemptive power that He brings!!! Amen!
