It’s OK to Cry!!!
When I was growing up in the deep Southern US, I was raised to believe that it was not a good thing when a man would cry. Tears were stereotypically shed by women and men held their emotions in the name of caring for others who cannot care for themselves. Then when I got to Corporate America, I learned that it was not a gender issue…no one cries! To cry was to show weakness and emotional vulnerability and volatility…not good! In this context the Word of God has rocked my world. God is actually saying that mourning gives Him a possible impression of you where you will be rewarded with the comfort that is desired. Powerful! The crux of it is not in the emotion; however, the crux of God’s rewarding the believer for mourning is in their exhibiting compassion toward the loss of another! God would be a hypocrite if HE were to condemn us for doing what He told us to do…feel others’ pain. It is understood to mourn, BUT we must allow God to comfort us in order that we may move forward! Otherwise, we will be bound in our emotions and will be ineffective for God!
Mourn, be comforted and walk with God!!!!
