It’s Only A Shadow!
Sometimes regardless of how holy we think we are, how wise we feel that we have become or how sanctified we would like to think that we are, God will either LEAD or ALLOW us to walk into a “valley of the shadow of death”. It is not on the high hills but is in the low valley. It is not death but it is the SHADOW of death. This means that although we are not to die, it looks like, feels like, seems like, sounds like and even acts like our death is imminent. However, we are not to be afraid. As the young people used to proclaim colloquially, “I ain’t never scared!” There is are two reasons why the believer does not have fear even when the “shadow of death” is definite. Firstly, God is with us. I don’t have to be afraid cause God is with me WHERE EVER and WHEN EVER. God is with me in the ups and the downs and my rights and my wrongs. Secondly, God’s Rod and Staff give me comfort because even when I may go wrongly, God has a way of directing and correcting me! He directs me with His rod when I seek direction, but He even corrects me with his staff when I am being hardheaded!
