Theme:
The ABCs of Christian Living
Introduction:
- The following poem is an A-Z expression of Christian Living with Biblical references.
- The poem was written by an anonymous writer and the references were added for completion.
Body:
Although things are not perfect
- Job 14:1, “Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.”
Because of trial or pain
- Philippians 3:10-11, “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.”
Continue in thanksgiving
- 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
Do not begin to blame
- Lamentations 3:39,“Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?”
Even when the times are hard
- Romans 5:3, “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;”
Fierce winds are bound to blow
- Psalms 147:18, “…he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.”
God is forever able
- Daniel 3:17, “If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.”
Hold on to what you know
- 2 Timothy 1:13, “Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.”
Imagine life without His love
- John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Joy would cease to be
- 1 Peter 1:8, “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:”
Keep thanking Him for all the things
- Colossians 1:3, “We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,”
Love imparts to thee
- Philippians 4:19, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Move out of “Camp Complaining”
- Genesis 4:13, “And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.”
No weapon that is known
- Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.”
On earth can yield the power
- Matthew 28:18, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
Praise can do alone
- Psalms 113:3, “From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’s name is to be praised.”
Quit looking at the future
- Matthew 6:34, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
Redeem the time at hand
- Romans 13:12, “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.”
Start every day with worship
- Joshua 24:15, “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
To “thank” is a command
- 1 Chronicles 16:34, “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.”
Until we see Him coming
- Revelations 1:7, “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”
Victorious in the sky
- 1 Thessalonians 4:17, “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
We’ll run the race with gratitude
- Hebrews 12:1-2, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Xalting God most high
- Psalms 34:3, “O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.”
Yes, there’ll be good times and yes some will be bad, but…
- Philippians 4:12, “I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.”
Zion waits in glory…where none are ever sad!
- Isaiah 14:3, “And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,”
Conclusion:
- Living for God is as easy as A-Z when WE are not involved:
- Mark 8:34, “… Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
