Text:
Hebrews 4:9-11:
9: There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10: For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11: Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Theme:
There Is A Rest
Introduction:
- The Book of Hebrews has been debated as to its authorship with the resulting conclusion that the Apostle Paul is the author. However, regardless of the actual author it is agreed upon that it is definitely a Pauline epistle due to its writing style and content.
- The 4th chapter of Hebrews deals with the concept of REST:
- Rest is a relief of a burden
- Rest is a ceasing of current activity
- Rest is a reviving
- Verse 9 of the text gives a point of consolation that leads to our theme:
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God
There Is A Rest!
